This three LP series predates Columbia 6-EYE, featuring a solid blue label with 1A/1A stampers.

Rolph Schroeder violin, using the curved bow, plays J.S. Bach: Complete Works for Solo Violin, in three separate volumes; COLUMBIA ML 4743, ML 4744, AND ML 4745. This Mega Rare Original U.S. Mono 3 LP is seldom offered as a complete set. Recorded September, 1952, in the Parish Church, Gunsbach, Alsace, under the supervision of Albert Schweitzer, and using the curved bow of Bach's time.

The contents include: Vol. 1: Sonata in G minor/Partita in B minor; Vol. 2: Sonata in C major/Partita in E major; and Vol. 3: Sonata in A minor/Partita in D minor.

Record Condtion(s):  NOTE:  I HAVE LISTENED FROM START-TO-FINISH TO ALL THREE RECORDS.

Vol. 1: Columbia ML 4743. Visually, Side 1 appears to be in E-/E condition. It has some light surface hairlines and scratches. My play test of Side 1 revealed some occasional background noise, mostly minor tics, a couple of thuds, but these flaws never overpower the violin sound which plays loud, undistorted, and enjoyably. I would rate its condition as E-. Side 2 revealed very infrequent background noise, occasional tics, no thuds, and was in E condition.

The record jackets are  EX. They have no tears, splits, or marks with the exception of a piece of scotch tape that runs along the bottom of each album.

Vol. 2: Columbia ML 4744. Visually, Side 1 appears to be in E condition. It has some light surface hairlines and scratches as do all of these records but nothing that is really distracting My play test started with a loud thud that occurred several times until the record got 'tracked.' Once it got beyond this initial point it played exceptionally well with little surface noise and minimal tics. Other than the tics, I heard no loud pops or other distracting sounds during play. Side 2 played well from start to finish. I heard tics here-and-there but no pops or other distracting noise.

Vol. 3: Columbia ML 4745. Visually, Side 1 appears to be in E- condition. Light smudges, hairlines, and scratches are visible. You can tell that this record was loved and played a lot but by someone who took good care of his LPs. It played with the usual tics and soft thuds but nothing that interfered with my enjoyment of the music. I would rate it as E. Side 2 appeared visually to be in E condition. The play began with more than usual tics and pops but they were not loud.
