Description

BACKHAUS / BOHM / VPO / BRAHMS - " PIANO CONCERTO NO.2 ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd. (SXL 6322) Stereo, 1967.

Very rare English, 1st pressing, Stereo LP with original grooved Decca wideband label, "Made in England By" label text (this is the label text usually found on 2nd edition Decca LPs, but for this particular later release, it definitely signifies the 1st edition) and front laminated sleeve - see photo.

English issue and pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)

CONDITION:

VINYL =  EX- (PLAYS EX) (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only light spindle trails, etc. The one single obvious flaw for this record is a very faint surface mark about 1cm in length at the beginning of the second side - I have thoroughly tested this section and this mark is inaudible. Otherwise, even under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of very light paper scuffs - although these are purely visual and during playback, none of these very slight superficial flaws correspond to any audible defects.
On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well - strong, clean and without interuptions. If it hadn't been for these slight cosmetic marks, it would have made a straight "EX" grading based on playback.
Not quite an untouched museum piece, but a good honest excellent copy for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)

SLEEVE = EX- (No big creases, rips, tears, defacing, etc. Still in really nice shape, just marked down slightly for a couple of creases in the laminate  and for a couple of very faint marks on the white rear sleeve - see photos for further clarification)

NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. Before bidding, please read my description carefully, decide how much this record is worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to check out my feedback from the many other successful transactions I have made in the past.

ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH!

HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!
