Description
Up for auction is a copy of Apple of My Eye by Badfinger, released in 1973 in Apple, cat no APPLE 49. The UK issue of this 45 – the final (non Beatle) single on Apple - was pressed in tiny quantities, and is rarer as a stock copy than a demo. Additionally, this appears to be a non-EMI contract pressing, feeling heavier than standard EMI releases of the era, and not bearing their anti-slip serration ring around the edge of the label. It’s interesting to note that, even at this late stage in the label’s history, the designer still hadn’t got to grips with the fact that you can’t print black lettering on a black background & expect it to be legible. Anyway, Apple Of My Eye is probably the rarest UK Apple 45 apart from the legendary Brute Force “King Of Fuh” single.
Condition: one small non-sounding surface mark on each side of the vinyl. A few spindle trails and minor bit of “touching up” on the b-side label. Certainly VG+, but closer to EX.
My grades: I use a 10-point scale: M-; EX; VG+; VG; VG-; G+; G; G-; F (fair); P (poor). I never use mint as a grade for used records. I am a long-time (25+ years!) record collector, and play-grade where possible. I don’t use stock photos: the item in pictured here is the item for sale.
