Description:
In the nineteen sixties Hungaroton started to build an hughe monument for their greatest composer of all time: Béla Bartók.
As icing on the cake Hungaroton issued a volume with historical performances of the composer himself at the piano, playing solo and performing with other artits:
Vilma Medgyaszay - soprano
Maria Basilides - contralto
Ferenc Szekelyhidy - tenor
Joseph Szigeti - violin
Benny Goodman - clarinet
Ditta Bartok Pasztory - piano
Harry J. Baker and Edward J. Rubsan - percussion
These recordings were made in Hungary by AM, performances on the Welte-Mignon piano, and many were made in America during the last years of his life. These recordings made by Columbia, Vanguard, recordings made in the Library of Congress, and recordings originally issued on the Continental label (made by Donald Gabor and Laszlo Halasz).
This set of 8 LPs (with extensive documentation and details) is entitled BARTOK AT THE PIANO. The set was issued in 1981 and is much sought after.
Condition:
The records are practically Mint as is the box.

The records have been meticulously cleaned on my improved Keith Monks Record Cleaning Machine for which I have devised a very effective cleaning method. (Click on the image at right.) After cleaning, the records were slipped into new inner sleeves. This is already an additional value of $20.
