Description
This is an original 1975 EDITIONS MAKOSSA RECORDS U.S. self-titled debut LP from the pioneering Ghana afro-funk band Basa Basa Soundz. It is Editions Makossa Records U.S. catalog number EM 2310, gatefold cover, with the original factory shrinkwrap torn and split in several places but still surrounding the cover. Record comes packaged inside the cover in a nice clear plastic inner sleeve. Ghanaian band Basa Basa Soundz started out as one of the house bands in Accra's legendary club the Napoleon in the early '70s. With the assistance of Fela Kuti they recorded two albums in Nigeria before reinventing themselves as Basa Basa Experience, teaming up with South African producer and multi-instrumentalist Themba 'T-fire' Matembese to record their final album, Together We Win aka Homowo Please see my accompanying back cover photo for the track listing and other information. Condition of record is a mid to high VG+ with a few light surface and sleeve marks which cannot be felt and will not affect play. Cover is in VG condition with the original factory shrinkwrap torn and split in several places but still surrounding the cover, and with the main flaw being some minor water damage at the lower right corner which has resulted in a 3" split in the lower right hand edge of the back gatefold - I have carefully and neatly repaired this split by taping from the inside. Cover also has some wear along its edges in a few places, primarily in the area of the slight water damage at and near its lower right corner, along its right hand edge, and at the upper right corner.
