40 years have now passed since long-serving NYC disco-turned-electrofunk outfit The Brooklyn, Bronx & Queens Band (better-known as the BB&Q Band) released their most commercially successful album, Genie. Produced in Milan alongside Guadeloupe-born Italian disco pioneer Jaques Fred Perus, the deliciously glossy and soulful set did a particularly good job at fusing wide-eyed, synth-powered 80s soul with more propulsive and infectious dancefloor workouts (most notably 'Dreamer', the P-funk influenced 'Main Attraction', 'On The Shelf' and 'Ricochet'). This expanded anniversary edition pairs the remastered original album with a swathe of old and new remixes, with highlights including Shep Pettibone's brilliant revision of 'Dreamer', Ben Liebrand's stretched-out take on 'Main Attraction' and a trio of house-style rubs from British veteran Michael Gray.
