Description

A very unusual and rare item, this being an album of music originally bought and owned by the BBC internally as a part of a library series to be used as television and radio incidental music. It was mostly used, I believe on the BBC Test Card interludes in the 1960s/70s. The disc is catalogue number CM198 which gathers together fifteen songs; side one has eight songs played by legendary erotic film music composer Gert Wilden (and his orchestra) and side two is music played by the Dresden Dance Symphony. As you’d expect, the only way I could explain it is as a mixture of Spy Jazz, Trad Jazz, light, jaunty orchestral Testcard Music and songs that wouldn’t sound out of place in a Peter Sellers or Norman Wisdom film in the early 1960s. Nothing funky or groundbreaking, and no breakbeats; just straightforward TV incidental tunes of the era. No date but probably 1959 - 1965 sort of era. Condition is VG with some light surface marks but plays fine with a little crackle. Could do with a clean if I’m being honest. Sleeve has handling wear as can be seen and tape along the open end to protect the sleeve when removing the disc.
