Description
3 Volume Set (50 LPs in total) from the BBC Sound Effects Library, published by Films for the Humanities in Princeton, NJ, 1983. All of the records play at 45rpm. They all seem to be unplayed and NM condition, though one or two of the many I tested had some slight warping due to the years of horizontal storage. The boxes are in mediocre condition, with some bending on the sides and tearing along the corners.
Of the 50 LPs, every conceivable category of sound effect is there: Animals, Urban Life, Babies, Trains, People's Reactions, Water, Home Sounds, the Electronic Workplace, Machines, Religious Rites, etc. There are also many records that are more electronic in nature and might have originated in the famed BBC Radiophonic Workshop (Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, et al): various synthesized effects, transitions, science fiction sounds, theme songs (to TV shows, horror movies and early video games), as well as a record of Dr. Who sound pieces. Really amazingly cool stuff!
This would be a great collection for the electronic music aficionado or the collector of obscure sound effects.
