Description
BBC Transcription Triple LP of Two 1964 Promenade Concerts
Three records consisting of Transcription Service recordings of two Promenade concerts. It is extremely rare to get a complete set of such LPs, especially of Promenade Concerts. Usually one can only find one of the LPs or sometimes two if one can find them at all.
Although the records list the concerts as 5 and 6 this bears no relationship to the dates that the concerts were broadcast. Concert 5 was broadcast on 12th August 1964 and Concert 6 broadcast on 15th September 1964. The recordings are in Mono as were the broadcasts.
There are no cue (continuity sheets) but details of the recordings are listed below
LP 1 side 1 (Matrix No 114620) Concert 5 (all three sides together have a total duration of 59 minutes)
London Symphony Orchestra conductor Colin Davis - Concerto For Orchestra (Tippett) first performance
LP 1 side 2 (Matrix No 114623) Concert 6 (all three sides have a total duration of 58 minutes and 5 seconds)
BBC Symphony Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokowski - El Amor Brugo (de Falla) (Gloria Lane soprano)
LP 2 side 1 (Matrix No 114621) Concert 5 London Symphony Orchestra conductor Colin Davis - Concerto For Orchestra (Tippett) part 2
LP 2 side 2 (Matrix No 114624) Concert 6 BBC Symphony Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokowski - Symphony No 8 by Vaughan Williams Pt 1
LP 3 side 1 (Matrix No 114622) Concert 5 London Symphony Orchestra conductor Colin Davis - Cantata Academica (Britten)
LP 3 side 2 (Matrix No 114625) Concert 6 BBC Symphony Orchestra conductor Leopold Stokowski - Symphony No 8 by Vaughan Williams Pt 2
There is no cue sheet.
These BBC Transcription Records were sent to radio stations all over the world. For a fee they would be able to broadcast the programmes on the LP a number of times over a period of about 3 years denoted by the expiry date. The LP was then supposed to be destroyed or returned to the BBC in London. A number of studio / station managers or DJ's must have decided the LP's were too good to throw away! The BBC Transcription Service boast that they supply upwards of 200 Radio stations so the print run of these LP's is probably in that order. As many Radio Stations dutifully did as the BBC asked few of these LP's survived.

If you buy more than one LP and the combined value is less than £50 then wait for an invoice as it costs the same to post two as one . However if the value is £50 or greater the cost is nearly twice that which I have shown so there is little room for a saving.
If the item is not as described you will, of course get a full refund.
If the item arrives damaged I refund the cost AFTER a photograph is emailed, via Ebay messaging, showing the damage (there are instances when a buyer says an item is damaged when, in reality, it arrived safely, to fraudulently obtain a refund)
No returns unless the item arrives damaged (photo required) or is not as described. If you buy it by mistake or just to record it, then sell it on eBay yourself, rather than ask if you can return it and be labelled a time water
If you have any questions about the item please ask. I don't mind providing additional pictures/ or information if required.
Good luck and thanks for viewing
