Description
This is a rare, if not a one-of-a-kind item. This auction is a complete two disc set of BBC transcription services records, containing the complete performance of Samuel Beckett’s ENDGAME, with the late Sir Donald Wolfit as Hamm and Maurice Denham as Clov. Nagg was played by Richard Golden, Nell by Mary 0'Farrell and the narrator was Haydn Jones.
Production for BBC World Theatre was by Michael Bakewell. This performance was broadcast in 1962, but these discs were issued by the BBC transcription services in 1974.
The disks themselves are in excellent condition, with no feelable marks, no significant scuffs and scratches. Included are radio call sheets featuring information about the performances, pictured.
This performance is not available for listening online, and I’ve had trouble even finding state or university archives that include this performance in their collection. No other information about previous sales of these transcription discs is available, so I’m in the dark about what a fair price might be, but it’s entirely possible that these are some of the only extant copies of this performance.
Feel free to make an offer, or reach out if you have any questions, or if you would like to hear a sample.
These will be shipped very securely, using corner-protecting mailers, ample inserts and bubble wrap.
