BEACH BOYS SURFIN - CANDIX

This auction is for a rare Beach Boys 45 of Surfin on Candix Records, # 301.  This is the rarer verision of this issue, and does not say "Dist. by Era Record Sales".  This record is considered the first Beach Boys release, with an estimated release date of December, 1961, and this paticular example still maintains much of it's original vinal gloss.

The condition factors of this record are noted as follows:

• Label, Side A "Surfin":  This label is in great shape.  Of course, there is no ink, no tears, or any major flaws.  There appears to be a slight 1/8 inch rub mark to the right of the "guild record" lettering, just left of center of the center cut, which could be as released, or happened afterwards.  I cannot see any any ring wear at all on this side.  There is some small white showing in a thin ring around the center cut, but again, this is minor, and can be seen in the attached photos.
• Label, Side B "Luau".  I would rate this label as very good, but not quite as nice as the A side due to a minor amount of ring wear.  There are no other label flaws, and there is less white evident on the center cut.
• Vinyl, Side A - SURFIN:  Much of the original gloss remains.,  Close inspection under bright light reveals that of course this record has been played and shows some very light surface lines which could be described as light scratches, but I cannot find any deep scratches into the vinyl.  The trail off area has all of it's original gloss, and the factory identification in the vinyl is CD-T-S-I-R & 41329.
• Vinyl, Side B - LUAU:  Again, much of the original gloss remains.  I can spot a few minor scratches which are more visible under heavy light than on Side A.
• Audio Quality (Side A) - This record has been played, and is sold as such.  There are some light pops throughout the recording that are evident from my sensitive equipement using a Denon turntable with a Grado cartridge.  I cannot hear any hiss, skip, or repeating noise from scratches.  Side B is similar.

All in all, this is a very nice example of this historic recording.  While it is clearly not mint, the record has been well cared for and will be carefully shipped in a new, heavy duty aftermarket blue paper sleeve that looks great against the label, with the entire record and blue sleeve placed in a clear plastic oversleeve and packed in a well protected shipper.  Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail, and insurance will be provided and paid by me.
