I am parting with some of my treasured LPs. Here's a first US pressing from THE BEACH BOYS. They were the biggest selling American Band in the 60's, and continued an incredible career well after that. If you're here, then I don't have to tell you how amazing Dennis, Carl, and Brian were. They took the popularity of the vocal groups from the 50's and melded it with Rock and Roll, but in their surf style. They were the coolest in their time, and still, their records are great plays anytime. Fun with a youthful exuberance. They were as cool a band as existed in the 60's. Here's a MONO pressing of this great LP. It's a gorgeous copy where the sound jumps off the table, it has some visual marks, but plays NEAR MINT. The LP has a great gloss, and the labels are beautiful. The cover is in nice shape, but has a punch hole top right, small corner dings top right, left, and bottom left, what looks like a staple holes top left above S in Surfin', and almost unnoticeable bottom seam split along with a 3" scotch tape patch on the bottom seam. The spine is beautiful. The back cover shows 2old scotch tape pieces that browned, and another that someone pulled in the center, ripping away some of the text....The labels are beautiful, and still has the ORIGINAL INNER. The LP has seen plenty of play, and when you think about how many Beach boys LPs were sold in the 60's, and how many you see around in great condition, it's because everyone played them. And, I mean a lot...This original 1962 mono pressing plays great, although has visual downfalls on the vinyl and cover.
I love original pressings because I feel every LP is of it's time and place. The vinyl, and record pressings are all from that moment in time, and no re-pressing or re-mastering will ever make the sound better for me. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER LPS FOR SALE NOW ON EBAY. SS = (STILL SEALED) The record itself is in brand new condition, assumed never to have been played.
M = (MINT) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet,
booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
M - = (MINT MINUS) MINT- is not MINT but is very close to it, near new, there might be a blemish or two, but overall record and jacket are like new or very close to new.
EX = (EXCELLENT) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight
wear and / or creasing.
VG = (VERY GOOD) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the
occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
G = (GOOD) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and
contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
F = (FAIR) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will
be torn, stained and / or defaced.
P = (POOR) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
B = (BAD) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler
We also use + or - to adjust grades in between, so...this scopes out to: SS/M/M-/EX+/EX/EX-/VG+/VG/VG-/G+/G/F/P/B
