The cornerstone of all SURF and stick-shift music, this was the Beach Boys second album. It heralded the arrival of a new force in music to be reckoned with… when they recorded this album, Beach Boys were, well - just that - a bunch of adolescents, but the music, though not exactly serious, was played with a sense of maturity and ambition, The album includes a few of their biggest early hits. The songs are: Surfin USA - Farmer's Daughter - Misirlou - Stoked - Lonely Sea - Shut Down - Noble Surfer - Honky Tonk - Lana - Surf Jam - Let's go trippin - Finders Keepers. The impact of this album - and the music that Beach Boys would continue to make for many years to come - could not be overestimated.  Finding a still sealed original PROMO copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

The PROMOTIONAL, RADIO STATION-, AUDITION OR DEMONSTRATION COPIES AND RELEASES (such as the one we have here) were often distributed among the radio stations before the record was released to the public, sometimes as much as four months ahead. These records are generally considered to be the "first among equals", which is to say the VERY FIRST generation and the VERY FIRST pressings of the particular title; a PROTOTYPE and the earliest known official pressing of the record.

(a)          THE ALBUM IS STILL FACTORY SEALED AND IS BELIEVED TO BE PERFECTLY MINT. Please note: sealed items are assumed to be mint and are sold as-is, as we have no way of inspecting them. For our policy on still sealed records ►click here (PLEASE READ BEFORE PLACING A BID).

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve , SUCH AS THE ONE SHOWN BELOW, FROM OUR PREVIOUS AUCTION   (we can see it through the promo punch hole)

(c)           The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Stereo  pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its mono  counterpart. The mix is more graphic, the sound resolution more precise, and the channel separation (which does not exist on mono version) adds a whole new dimension to the music. Also, the stereo mixes are (by definition) somewhat different than on the mono version. We estimate that mono copies of this album outnumber stereo copies  by a ratio of at least 3:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
