Description

Check it out when you get a chance!!!  Thanks!   EXCEL data bases are also available for original 50's/60's music (in VG++ or better condition); and for reissue 50's/60's music (in near mint or mint condition).....both data bases are being updated 2-3 times a week with new material.     ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Joel Whitburn "Top Pop Singles 1955-2002" Billboard research book reflects that the "A" side of this recording reached #75 during February 1962.  ATTENTION:  Did you read my opening paragraph???  If not, go back to the top BEFORE you read the following vinyl and label descriptions.

    ARTIST(s):  BEACH BOYS
  • TITLES:  "Surfin"  bw  "Luau"
  • SONG CREDITS:   B. Wilson - M. Love  bw  B. Morgan
  • COMPANY LABEL:  X Records 301
  • VISUAL GRADING OF VINYL:  There is no other way to VISUALLY describe the vinyl on both sides of this record, except as WELL PLAYED!  BOTH SIDES are thoroughly scuffed and scratched.  The lady loved the record....but not enough to provide it with TLC.  If for some strange reason you are still reading this, I will tell you that I did risk my needle...and I test-played both sides of the record:  By some miracle it did play all the way through.....without any skipping.  BUT (ah, you knew there would be some sort of fine print....didn't you?) there was static through-out.....on both sides.  I don't remember any popping sounds.....just lots and lots of fairly constant light static....but the music still dominated!  If for reason you are still there, proceed to the next line....it gets a little better.....!
  • CONDITION OF LABELS:  I know, I know, after reading about the vinyl....who cares about the labels....but here it is anyway (besides, I'm having fun???):  Both labels are in tact with no tears, but both sides light to maybe medium strength play wear (REALLY....not bad at all....but I digress); and the previous owner wrote her name (and someone else's on the "B" side) at the top of the labels in pencil.  (Which barely shows up on the black label.....forget the scan!)
  • TYPE OF SLEEVE:  Comes in a (near mint.....I'm still having fun...) black paper sleeve.

Those of you that have bought from me know that I am a VERY STRICT visual grader...... (and you know that I practically never list an item in this type of condition.  BUT this one is so rare, that I decided to give it one last chance for a happy home.  If it doesn't sell, so be it....it won't be tossed out....instead it will just be added to my own Billboard Top 100 collection, even though the "A"/"B" side combination DID NOT CHART on this label.  It will just add to the already frightning estate sell challange that someone (probably my wife) will get stuck with handling.  (I am currently occupying 2.5 rooms full of vinyl within this 3,000 square foot home.  My apologies to her in advance!  And finally, here comes the "other shoe":  I've doen everything possible to describe this record to you....even tried to bully you out of bidding (so it cost me $1.55 to have this fun....), therefore I must label this item as being sold under an "AS IS" banner.  PLEASE, do not ask for a refund when you find out that I was correct about the static.....or even if I might have missed a popping sound (which I really truly listened for).   Should here be a winner of this item, I hope they will place it in a frame and proudly display it along with whatever else they consider to be a prized musical possession.  And so with that, HAPPY HUNTING!

READ ME...READ ME...READ ME...READ ME:  Here is a 45rpm record that I purchased at a local garage sell.  Unfortunaterly for all of the worlds true BEACH BOY fans, the lady that sold this to me LOVED both sides of the recording!  She was the original owner....and she got her money's worth out it.  I want you to read the following vinyl (in particular) and label gradings VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY, because I am going to do everything possible to fully describe this record's condition.....EVEN IF IT MEANS I SCARE YOU RIGHT OUT OF BIDDING ON IT!  I'm listing this record for only one reason....so that some BEACH BOY collector will have a shot at buying this scarce record for what may only be the purpose of being to brag "I'VE GOT ONE IN MY COLLECTION!!!!" and proudly displaying it on their wall.   ADDITIONAL 45RPM AUCTIONS:  Still looking for other 45rpms?  I have another  eBay Seller's ID of "JimsEagleVending".  That ID is currently listing thousands (I'm currently screening 30,000+ candidates) of 45rpms that appear to be heavily into the 80's and 90's (some 60's and 70's).  Lots of rock and country-western, with some R&B.  (I currently have artists "A" through "S" loaded into an EXCEL data base; and I am currently loading the unsold "T" artists!)    Almost all of these items will be in the $2.00 to $2.75 price range in order to SELL....SELL...SELL !!!

ADDITIONAL ITEM INFORMATION:  PRIOR to my posting this item, I discussed it with an extremely well known LARGE record collector.  My initial conversation was just to seek out his expertise as to whether I really should post an item that has so much noise (see prior description), no matter how rare it is.  During this conversation he brought up a concern about apparent "boots" that were released at some point in time.  He requested a larger label blow-up (larger than the one that eBay's software allowed me to input during my item creation....I'm "small potatoes" here....I don't have any of those off-line fancy programs); and he asked for "dead wax etching" information.  While the label information that I emailed him helped in his decision, it was the following "dead wax" information that convinced him that the lady had indeed bought (and now sold to me) an original pressing.  Here it is for your analysis:  The "A" SIDE has:  C D T  S-1-R and then approximately three inches away it has 41389 (which is proceeded by a delta symbol); and the "B" SIDE has:  C D T  S-2-R and then approximately three inches away it has 41389x (which is also proceeded by a delta symbol).  Okay Beach Boy fans I hope this helps you and answers the two questions I have received since posting this item.  TRUST ME, I have done about all I can do to really make sure that this is the "real McCoy".....I WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED IT IF THERE WAS ANY DOUBT IN MY MIND!  HAPPY HUNTING.....and may this record find the good home that it so richly deserves!
