Description
Here is a very rare early Beatles 45 RPM on Vee-Jay. This is VJ 498 bracket logo "Please Please Me" w/ "Ask Me Why." This record was released in 1963. The record sides both have correct dead wax markings The matrix numbers are : Side One : machine stamped 'Audio Matric' , 'MR' in circle, hand etched : 63-2967 , triangle 46527. Side Two : machine stamped 'Audio Matrix', 'MR' in a circle, hand etched 63-2968 , triangle 46527-X. I would grade the vinyl as being in VG. The labels maybe VG minus. The record plays and sounds good. There are no deep marks or cracks. "Please Please Me" plays very nicely... "Ask Me Why" has a noticeable tick one word long at about 50 seconds in (guestimate) but it doesn't get stuck and is not real noticeable. There is no flutter or warping. The labels have some staining maybe some marks from a juke box (see pics). The labels look better in person than in the pictures black labels are very difficult to get a accurate picture of.. I found the sleeve for this at a later date.. I think it is correct. People are asking $4000 for this record in Mint shape.. this is far from perfect but still a reasonably nice copy for a fraction of the price. I am offering it as/is as found. I believe this is consider the first USA Beatles record ever released (from what I have read).
