Band Of The Irish Guards - ’World Cup / Michelle’ DB 77937

Band Of The Irish Guards 1966 UK DEMO pressing of the ’World Cup / Michelle’ 7” single. Released on the 10th June 1966, this is a very interesting Beatles related DEMO record for the following reason. The b-side here is a 1966 cover version of the classic Beatles track BUT ALSO note the publishing credits for the a-side track, NORTHERN SONGS. This indicates that Lennon/McCartney owned the publishing rights to the song. Could this be an undocumented orchestral track written by Lennon/McCartney? Why would they own publishing credits for this song? Most likely a McCartney composition as he did use different pseudonym’s back in the 1960’s (The Tudor Minstrels Love In The Open Air is a 1966 McCartney pseudonym for example, also an orchestral track)! Could McCartney (a keen football fan) have written this for Englands’ upcoming 1966 World Cup campaign? The first and only time England have lifted the trophy.

Side 2: 7XCA 31002-1 1 G KT

The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition.

Both labels are in EXCELLENT+ condition.

The sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition.
