If you are intrigued by the Beatles and their recording of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, here is a special package that will be listed ONLY this week on eBay. The package features two major components, both associated with the 1967 output of The Beatles.

First, there is an original, and increasingly hard-to-find in "as-nice-as-this" condition, MONOPHONIC vinyl recording of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by The Beatles from Capitol Records. The record labels and the rear cover indicate that this is a first pressing (no MACLEN and no NEMS designations, which were added to later pressings); this record was released in the United States in early June 1967. As evidenced by its unmarred spindle hole, the vinyl has been handled with discernibly consistent care over the decades. Any surface wear does not impact play (i.e. there are no skips); the listening experience is solid. As a 47-year old record it play grades overall as VG++. The original psychedelic inner sleeve and cut-out insert are both present, intact, and in nice condition. The Capitol black rainbow labels on both sides of the vinyl are clean and clear. The cover shows some limited wear from storage rubbing and there are hard-to-see initials located above and slightly to the right of George Harrison's image on the inner right gatefold cover (see photo). The record will be housed in a new inner sleeve and placed, along with the record jacket, the original psychedelic inner sleeve and the cutout insert, inside a polypropylene cover. The winning bidder also receives a needledrop CD-R of a "minty" mono recording of Capitol MAS 2653.
 
Second, The 1967 Pepper Sessions, a numbered limited edition box set published in 1992 by UFO Records (London, UK) accompanies the vinyl. This unusual and uncommon box set consists of the following: 1: a glossy, large (roughly the same dimensions as an LP) 48-page booklet featuring over 50 rarely seen photos of The Beatles in studio, etc. (including several in color) and a lengthy essay that focuses on the evolution of The Beatles, with particular focus on their 1967 recording sessions ("Strawberry Fields Forever," other singles, and, of course, Sgt. Pepper's LHCB and the 25 June 1967 Our World broadcast of "All You Need is Love"); 2: a cutout of a gnome (originally destined for the album cover) that was signed by each member of The Beatles; 3: a certificate of authentication (No. 1123 of 3500). The box and its contents are in "as new" condition (I am its original owner). The listed photographers are Lynda Gilbert and Lizzie Bravo; text is by Steve Turner with "extra text" (whatever that means) by Andy Neil and Andrew Milton. ISBN 1 873884 079.
