Description

After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please check out my other listings and remember to save me as a favourite seller, as every week I'll be listing more and more increasingly rare, collectible and desirable Beatles records!

Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. This auction is for a very rare, original Mono 1st pressing of the Beatles legendary LP 'The Beatles', otherwise known as the White Album.

This copy has the very low number of 0027860 on the cover! It's very hard to find a number this low! Disc 1 is also missing the 'An EMI Recording' text, which is only missing on very early presses of this album! The text is on the second disc, though.

Comes complete with it's original black inners, poster and four photos!

This was the last original Beatles' album to have a full mono mix (Yellow Submarine was just a stereo fold-down into mono). Subsequantly most of the tracks have both subtle and blatant differences to their stereo counterparts. A website that details some of these differences can be found HERE.

By 1968 mono was pretty much a dead format. Stereo records coming down in price to be the same as their mono counterparts along with the price of stereo record players drastically dropping meant that everybody bought stereo and the mono copies were left on the shelf. Mono sales dropped so much that by 1969 it was discontinued completely as a format across all labels. Because of this, stereo copies of this album far outsold the mono copies!

The Cover : GOOD

The cover is holding up okay but is showing its age a little. The front cover has yellowed quite noticeably (The Cream Album?) and has some light dirt buildup on the laminate and some light disc impression. There are some light brown spots and some light browning around the embossed title, and there are three small marks at the bottom right next to the cover number. The back is pretty much just like the front but with a little extra creasing along the top. The bottom seams have a little wear but are holding tight but without splitting or tears. The side seams, again, have a few touches of wear but are holding tight with no splitting or tears. The spine has some wear with some crackle to the laminate, and the text is rather hidden. But there's no splitting. The inner gatefold is clean but has yellowed and there's a little dirt buildup on the overflaps each side along with a very light disc impression and creasing. Overall, holding well, but with some general wear and tear.   Inner Sleeves : FAIR

Both original sugar paper black inner sleeves are included. Both are holding okay but with a lot of creasing around the corners as you can see in the photos above. Both have some seam tearing, one inner sleeve has it quite bad down one side seam whereas the inner sleeve has hardly any splitting or tears.   Poster : VG+/EX-

The poster is holding up nicely with just some light creasing and a few light brown spots. Looking good!   Photos : EX++

All four photos are in a great condition. All four have a nice, rich colour and no marks, stains or tears and only one or two little creases in places. Looking nice!   Disc 1 (Visually Graded Only!!) : GOOD+

The playing surface has a pretty good shine to it and has a fair amount of light scuffing along with some slightly heavier looking scuffs and marks. There's one heavier scuff on side 1 at 3 o'clock that runs vertical and is about 4 inches or so long. It's unfeelable under the fingernail.

Disc 2 (Visually Graded Only!!) : GOOD++

Disc 2, again, has a pretty nice shine and has a fair amount of light scuffing along with some slightly heavier looking marks. Nothing serious, though. The disc does have a very slight warp.   Disc 1 Labels : VG+

The labels are pretty clean and have a decent colour. Both have a moderate amount of light spindlewear and a little wear and whitening around the centre hole.

Disc 2 Labels : VG+

Again, the labels are looking pretty clean with a good colour. Both have a fair amount of light, moderate spindlewear and a little whitening around the centrehole. Decent labels!   Terms and Conditions + Shipping Information
