After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. This auction is for an original mono pressing of the Beatles legendary LP 'The Beatles' (Commonly known as the White Album).
This is a near complete set! The only thing it's missing are the four portrait photos. The poster and the black sugar paper inner sleeves are present.
This was the last original Beatles' album to have a full mono mix (Yellow Submarine was just a stereo fold-down into mono). Subsequantly most of the tracks have both subtle and blatant differences to their stereo counterparts. A website that details some of these differences can be found HERE.
By 1968 mono was pretty much a dead format. Stereo records coming down in price to be the same as their mono counterparts along with the price of stereo record players drastically dropping meant that everybody bought stereo and the mono copies were left on the shelf. Mono sales dropped so much that by 1969 it was discontinued completely as a format across all labels. Because of this, stereo copies of this album far outsold the mono copies!
All these factors make this a highly collectible and desirable Beatles album!

The cover is holding up nicely but is showing its age a little. the cover as a whole has yellowed slightly (The Cream Album?) and has some light browning and dirt buildup in places. The laminate looks pretty clean with minimal dirt buildup and has some light creases around the edges. There's two very small little laminate bubbles on the bottom edge. The side seams are holding tightly with no wear or splitting. The bottom seams, again, are holding tightly with no wear or splitting. The spine has folded over and has yellowed somewhat. The laminate looks to have cracked in places but overall the spine has not worn or split and is holding tightly. The back cover is like the front and has a light cream colour with some light disc impression and some light dirt buildup in places. There's a larger laminate bubble at the bottom right corner - I've included a closeup photo of this bubble which I hope is clear. Inner gatefold has a lovely, shiny laminate with no dirt buildup and a little, light browning along the top. The overflap on the left, at the top, has come away and folded over but the rest is tight and stuck fast. There's some light blue over the song titles - pretty faint but definitely visible. There's also some light creases around the edges but nothing serious. Overall, looking pretty good!

The original poster is included. It has the original thick, unlaminated paper and is looking good with no staining or anything serious. However, there's a pretty prominent tear as you can see in the photo above. The Inner Sleeves : VG+

Both original black sugar-paper inner sleeves are included. They're holding up good with no splits or tearing, and just some light creasing, disc impression and a little wear along the opening. Nice sleeves, overall! Disc 1 : VG++

The playing surface on disc 1 has a nice shine to it and has a fair amount of light, faint scuffing, but nothing really heavy or serious. Looking good! Disc 2 : VG+

Disc 2 has a nice shine to it and a fair amount of light, faint scuffs in places. There are a couple of very slightly heavier looking scuffs but still is looking pretty good!.

Both labels are looking really nice with a nice, green colour to them. Both labels have just a very light amount of spindlewear and a touch of wear around the centrehole. There are two small, little scribbles on the side 2 label as you can see in the photos above. Disc 2 Labels : EX+

Both labels are looking great with a lovely, rich green colour to them, There's just the bare minimum wear around the centrehole and I can't really see any spindlewear. There's a small pen scribble on the side 3 label.
