I've just sold a copy of this album and I've found another in my collection so here 'tis. I'll use my original blurb but tailor it to suit this example!
UK Apple stereo PCS 7088, this their last album but released before 'Let It Be' which was in the hands of Phil Spector to overproduce and eff it up after George Martin had done his usual exemplary work on the recordings (blame John Lennon who had lost interest in the album itself).
Anyway, this is the first pressing of Abbey Road as shown by the dead wax matrices YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1. A great album as the boys made a concerted effort with George Martin to finish off with an album worthy of their talents and legacy.
The Garrod & Lofthouse fully laminated sleeve is in nice clean shape. Strong and sharp cornered with no rips, tears, splits or writing to report. It has a hint of ringwear and the album catalogue number is part rubbed off on the spine as shown but otherwise is a very nice example. And it has the rarer 'misaligned' Apple logo on the rear. Grading the cover for condition I'm happy to give it 8 out of 10 minimum.
For the inner sleeve, it's a completely sound and fresh black poly-lined offering.
Onto the vinyl itself which is flat and shiny and weighs 138g on the scale so is a good weight. The 'Apple logo' labels are quite clean as pictured and there is evidence of a handful of spins only at the spindle holes. Note that 'Her Majesty' credit as the last track is missing which again makes this a rarer issue.
In room daylight the disc looks nice. Under the evil and unforgiving table light I see light scuffs and hairlines. As such I can just about give the disc 8 /10 for visual condition.
So in summary, this particular copy of Abbey Road will not shame any collection.
