The Beatles - 'Hey Jude!'. CPCS 106
The Beatles 1970 UK 1st Apple EXPORT FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of the 'Hey Jude!' LP. Released on the 26th February 1970, this album failed to chart here in the UK. It is offered here in wonderful and rare fully complete EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition. In addition this very early pressing also features TWO LABEL ERRORS. These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
Due to overseas sales of this LP being so good EMI were forced to produce a limited run of copies here in the UK and export them abroad. The album was only available here in the UK on direct order from EMI or to re-import it back from overseas. The album never gained an official UK release until 1979, nine years after the production of this Apple EXPORT pressing. When it surfaced EMI released it directly on to the Parlophone label.
Released on the dark 'Apple Records' label this 1970 1st UK Apple export DEMO pressing has the catalog number CPCS 106. Later issues simply had the catalog number of PCS 106. The earlier additional 'C' prefix stands for Capitol (Records) as this was initially a Capitol Records only release. This early pressing also carries two errors on the side one label. The track 'Paperback Writer' is wrongly listed as 'Paper Back Writer' (three words instead of two) and the track 'Revolution' is incorrectly labeled as 'Revolutions'. This comes fully complete with the correct and original fully laminated cover and Apple Records inner sleeve - all in wonderful EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition.
The Matrix numbers, mothers and stampers are:
Side 1. YEEX 150-1 2 R A
Side 2. YEEX 155-1 1 G T
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition. The vinyl has a very, very minor warp but this does NOT effect play in the slightest.
Both sides of the vinyl have been play tested with NO faults at all, perfect.
Both labels are in EXCELLENT+/MINT- condition. FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE sticker to side 2.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition. Light laminate creasing to the rear and a catalog number sticker (LP 4) to the front. As the cover is fully laminated the sticker should be removable with a little effort
The inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT condition. Seam split to the bottom edge other wise perfect.
