Description
Original 2nd STEREO pressing of "Meet The Beatles". The original 1st Stereo pressing consisted of less than 2,000 copies so 2nd pressings are a little more common, while 3rd and 4th pressings are very common. Released 20 Jan. 1964. Spizer version CAP 2047.SR2A (Scranton, PA plant manufacture).
2nd pressings have labels with only "I Want To Hold Your Hand" having a BMI publishing credit. The rest of the songs have an ASCAP publishing credit. Later (3rd and 4th) pressings have additional BMI credits listed.
I use the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent (and, due to this, are graded slightly lower) than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Record - VG (VG+ if using GoldMine grading standards)
Some minor hairlines on the record although none are deep. Most of the hairlines you really have to go looking for to find. Overall, pretty nice condition for over 50 years old. Minor spindle hole wear. No writing or stickers on the labels. I will include the original Capitol Records blue dust jacket as well that came with this record.
Cover - VG
The cover shows some wear along the bottom and less along the top but they are not split open. Someone taped the spine at some point due to wear but it doesn't look like the spine is actually split, either. Some minor corner bumps. The name "Daeke" is written in two places on the rear both near the top. Very light ring wear on the rear and front. No water stains, no mold, no stickers, etc.
LP will be shipped promptly in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection; I ship the vinyl outside of the cover in order to protect the cover during shipment. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale.
