The BEATLES (and Tony Sheridan). 45 rpm vinyl record. Vinyl Condition is Goldmine VG+. My second highest grade. Nice vinyl, some scuffs from usage, 55 years old, yet has good clean labels, no writing. Sorry, NO Red Picture Sleeve. Deadly Hard to Find them! Comes in common White sleeve. MGM had rights in USA to 4 Beatles/Sheridan songs from 1961. These 2 songs are not hard to find but the MGM Beatles 45s are an interesting collectable subset. These 2 are: CRY FOR A SHADOW. (Literally the Beatles first group recording, May1961, NO Tony Sheridan on this fantastic instrumental. Remember this was written by Harrison-Lennon ( the only one they did) and John was 20, George just freshly 18, and Paul was still just 18 that May!). The backing track is WHY (Can’t you love me again) written and sung by Tony Sheridan (a very nice ballad). This single sold less well than the earlier release of My Bonnie. That’s why there are fewer copies of Cry for a Shadow out there, and most were sold without the Red Picture Sleeve which alone runs over $100!!! The other 2 MGM contracted songs were MY BONNIE (Lies over the ocean) with theNo Spoken Intro version) and THE SAINTS (Go marching in). They usually came in a common Green Picture Sleeve. This one and English intro version and German intro version, both spoken by Sheridan. He was a British singer and guitarist who found his biggest success in Germany. He met the Beatles there and they recorded 6 songs together. Both sides here are MONO. Stereo became common on 45s in 1969!
