After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

Late on in production of Introducing the Beatles, VeeJay fought to get as many copies pressed before the their publishing rights to the songs expired. When rainbow band labels ran out the manufacturers kept going on using plain black labels. The majority of all-black label can be found with the plain VJ plain block logo and, to a lesser extent, the older Oval style logo. Just as production was coming to a halt though before the publkishing rights expired Southern Plastics Inc. in Tennessee ran off a tiny, tiny run of copies with all-black labels and a small VeeJay logo in brackets. When I emailed Bruce Spizer aboout this particular pressing a few years back, he came back to me with this:

"The legitimate pressing with the small brackets logo on a plain black label was manufactured by Southern Plastics. It is very rare. I only know of about a dozen or so that have been confirmed. My guess is that a few hundred were pressed when Southern Plastics ran out of Vee-Jay label backdrops. Bruce"

Literally just a few hundred copies with this label style came off the Southern Plastics production line back in 1964 and, today, they're near-impossible to find!

The big problem is that the most common Introducing the Beatles counterfeit discs have an all black label with a brackets logo. However, please be assured that this copy is 100% genuine and authentic!

Nearly every fake lists the Version 1 songs whilst nearly every genuine copy lists the version 2 songs. Nearly every fake was printed as stereo whereas most mono copies are genuine. This copy has the right colour hue, it has George's shadow, it has the 1/4" internal overflaps at the top and bottom of the mouth (on fakes this overflap is much longer) and the back passes the 'Honey' test. The deadwax on the record is less than 1" thick and carries the 'Audiomatrix' machine stamp (fakes have a deadwax larger than 1" and nearly all do not have this stamp) and the credit 'The Beatles' is above the spindlehole. On every fake this credit is below the spindlehole! The sleeve is also a later Intro sleeve with a tiny number 2 at the bottom right corner of the back.

This particular pressing, based on it's label style, was printed at Southern Plastics Inc. in Tennessee It's Spizer / Cox indentification number is VJ 1062 (2).MR6

The playing surface still has a little shine to it, bu has a lot of scuffing and some heavier scuffs and marks. Should be considered a collection filler..

The labels are looking okay, but have wear, slightly faded silver print and general, light markings. The photos above tell the best story..
