After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

Very Rare Genuine Press with the New Orleans Concert Souvenir Sticker on the Front!

This auction is for a very rare and highly collectible copy of the Beatles US VeeJay LP 'Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles'. This is a 100% authentic pressing and not one of the numerous counterfeits and bootlegs that are on the market.

When the Beatles first tried to break America, Capitol refused to release their songs. Undeterred, George Martin started looking around some of the smaller labels. One of these was VeeJay, who were a small label specialising mainly in gospel music. They took the contract on and issued the album 'Introducing... the Beatles'. After the group broke huge in America VeeJay released that they had an entire album's worth of material of the hottest band of the moment. But the LP they had originally released it all on, 'Introducing the Beatles', was already selling. So VeeJay decided to repackage the same album, even so far as to use the same Intro discs, in a completely different sleeve to try and convince the public that it was a brand new Beatles album. They weren't fooled and so this LP sold poorly.

Perhaps as a way to try and create demand for this LP, VeeJay had the idea to stick custom stickers on some of the copies that were manufactured to signify them as 'souvenir's of Beatle concerts that were taking place nearby. This happened very late on and just before VeeJay were about to lose the publishing rights to the Beatles songs so not too many copies appeared with these stickers.

Approximately 10 of these stickers have been found on copies of this album advertising a number of the early Beatles US concerts. However, it is the New Orleans concert sticker that's considered to be the rarest of all and the hardest one to find! The New Orleans concert was the last one in the run before VeeJay lost the distribution rights and only featured on a very small number of copies before it was too late!!

The Cover : POOR/FAIR

The cover is looking pretty rough unfortunately. The front has some light wear and some rough patches. There's a light stain on George in the middle and some browning down the mouth edge. The concert sticker on the front has wear and looks like someone has attempted to peel it off before sticking it back down again. Back cover, again, has some wear and rubbing. Top seam has split right the way over from the mouth to the spine. Bottom seam seems to be holding but has split about 4" in from the mouth opening. Spine is worn and the slick has torn in the middle, but the print is mostly legible. Inner gatefold is very clean but has yellowed a little. You can see the difference when you compare the inner gatefold area to the exposed area down the right side. As I say, pretty rough, but would make a perfect collection filler for this very rare concert sounvenir sticker!   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : FAIR

The playing surface has a nice shine to it and, for the most part, has a fair amount of light scuffs. However, there are some heavier scratches on the surface, some of which can be felt under the fingernail.

The labels are looking really nice with bright, silver text. Both labels have a little light wear on them but nothing at all serious. Both have a little spindlewear and a touch of whitening around the centrehole..

Due to problems in the past where numerous untracked records I've sent out have 'mysteriously disappeared', I only send records out fully tracked and only to your verified PayPal postal address to comply with eBay and PayPal seller protection policy. Because of this, please don't ask me to dispatch the record to a different address to the one you have listed on PayPal as I will not do this.

The P+P costs given on each auction are for that auction only. If you win more than one auction please wait until I've sent you out an amended invoice to combine postage.

All LPs will be mailed out in a strong, corrugated cardboard LP mailing box with the LP outside the sleeve. Extra sheets of corrugated cardboard will be used where applicable and FRAGILE tape used
