This auction is for a rare reel-to-reel tape copy of the Beatles album 'Oldies But Goldies'!
The Beatles had a 2 album per year deal with Parlophone but after Revolver was released in August the group had no time to write and record a new album by the end of the year. George Marthin therefore decided to go through some of the songs issued as singles and those not seen before on an album and made the first Beatles compilation album. The album also included the song Bad Boy, a song that had been recorded exclusively for the American market and one that had never been issued in the UK before.
Vinyl wasn't the only format that the Beatles albums were released on. They were also issued on 3 3/4 IPS twin track mono tape for playing on reel-to-reel tape players. These tapes were sold in much fewer numbers than their vinyl counterparts and, today, are difficult to find and highly collectible!.

As you can see, the box is showing its age but, overall, is holding up with some light wear, marks and small tears in the joins.I would go into detail but I feel the photographs about more than accurately describe the condition of the lid and box. The Tape : VG
The tape is in it's original EMI Tape reel. It looks like it's been played numerous times and the feed in tape has crinkled and crunched as you can see in the photo above. Apart from that I can't really go into much more detail as I don't have a reel-2-reel player, but there's no cracks or breaks on the tape reel itself and the tape itself doesn't look damaged.
