Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

1966-1969 2nd Mono Press!
This listing is for a rare and hard to find mono 2nd pressing of the Beatles LP 'A Hard Day's Night'. This copy features the small 'mono 'format on the front of the sleeve and the rimtext on the labels starts with 'The Gramophone'. 'I Should Have Known Better' also starts on a separate line whereas, on earlier presses, it was on the same line as 'A Hard Day's Night'.
By 1966 nobody was really buying the older Beatles albums and, by this time, were buying Revolver, Sgt. Peppers etc. And, even if they did need to buy a copy, this was at a time where stereo was very fast becoming the norm and mono copies were selling in much tinier numbers. Because of this it is getting pretty hard to find these later mono presses.
The record's original red EMI inner sleeve is included, which suggests that this copy dates from the latter part of the run, from around 68-69.

Title A Hard Day's Night Year of Release 1966-1969 Catalogue Number PMC 1230 Label Parlophone with 'Sold in UK' Statement and 'The Gramophone' rimtext Tax Code on Disc - Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number XEX 481-3N Side 2 Matrix Number XEX 482-3N Side 1 Stampers 3 / ALP Side 2 Stampers 1 / APR Cover Condition The cover is in VG+ condition. It's holding up fine with light, general wear and tear. The front is very clean with a nice, thick laminate on it. There's some light creasing all around the edges as you can see in the photos below. There's also some light wear along the mouth edge. Both seams are holding fine and the spine is complete without any splits or wear. There are a few little creases running through it but that's it. The back is clean but has browned with a little slightly darker browning down the mouth edge. The overflaps are all stuck tight with just a few little creases running through the laminate. Overall, looking nice! Inner Sleeve Condition The inner sleeve is in G+/VG- condition. It's looking pretty good and has a few little stains near the bottom. The inner sleeve has browned a little and the bottom seam has split in the middle, just over an inch. A tear in one of the side seams has been repaired with cellotape and the other side seams has a small split in the middle, about an inch long. Inserts Condition - Disc Condition The disc is in VG++ condition. The disc has a lovely shine to it and looks pretty clean with just a few little scuffs and marks here and there. There's one very small, slightly heavier looking mark on side 1 that runs two-thirds of the way through the opening track at the 5 o'clock position. I can just about feel it under my fingernail so, if this disc were to ever be played, it may cause a light click or something. However, since I don't own a record player, I cannot check this. Label Condition The labels are in EX+ condition. The labels are lovely and clean with bright silver text. There's just a little, light spindlewear and just a touch of spindlewear around the centrehole. Lovely labels!
