A truly excellent copy of this increasingly rare 1964 UK yellow & black Parlophone first pressing Beatles classic, MONO, PMC 1267 with sparingly played glossy vinyl, superb audio quality, excellent original flip back outer sleeve, and great condition original inner sleeve

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  XEX 481 - 3N with stampers "1" and "R T G" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

Side 2  XEX 482 - 3N with stampers "2" and "R P H" at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

The overall appearance and condition of the heavy duty vinyl is excellent plus (EX+). The vinyl is nicely flat and in normal daylight comes across as near perfect...in fact it's hard to detect any faults at all with a beautiful jet black lacquered sheen. Close scrutiny under a bright light reveals just a few of the wispiest wispy hairlines and paper scuffs but these are purely superficial, negligible and indicative of a record that has been sparingly played over the years. Truly excellent plus condition vinyl, remarkable for a 55 year old Beatles classic such as this.

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). All text and the Parlophone logo remain perfectly intact including the all important "THE PARLOPHONE COMPANY..." and "SOLD IN THE U.K..." text which are indicative of original UK 1st pressings, all of which sit upon the perfect light matt textured black background. The "K" and "T" tax codes sit proud on the side 1 label, and if it wasn't for just a couple of very,very light spindle trails adjacent to the spindle hole on each label the condition of each would be perfect. 

The front side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse outer sleeve is in excellent minus (EX-) condition. All edges remain rigid with no scuffing at all on either of the spine or the bottom edge, and the top edge is perfect apart from a single 1cm light scuff and x3 small scuff "nicks" at the centre. Each corner is a nicely defined right angle with minimal rubbing (slightly more noticeable on the bottom right corner) and there is no laminate lifting or obvious creasing. There are, however, some very light 1cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the edges (I counted x5 on the bottom edge and x6 adjacent to the spine), but these are minor. The opening edges remain firm with no fraying and there is only the merest hint of some very mild ring wear when the sleeve is held at the right angle in a bright light. All colouring and photos on the front side remain intact, vibrant and clear. The reverse side is truly excellent with no discolouration (except for just a few very small slight discolouration spots along with just the hint of a little discolouration towards the centre of the opening edge) and a very small compression right on the bottom left corner. There is no unwanted writing and the flipbacks are in near perfect condition although, strangely, there is a 4mm horizontal white strip on the top flip back which appears to emanate from manufacturing...I have never seen this before but it does nothing to diminish the overall highly presentable condition of this outer sleeve.

Finally, the quality of the audio is excellent plus (EX+). No skips, jumps, repeats, clicks or background crackle with wonderful MONO tone and clarity throughout even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume. The quality of the audio really is hard to fault - absolutely brilliant with every track making for a great listen on this timeless Beatles classic. It is becoming rare for the vinyl and audio quality to be in as impressive condition as this on 1st pressings of this Beatles classic.

Comes complete with original, excellent condition poly lined die-cut "USE EMITEX" inner with no tears or splits, just some minor creasing towards the top corners, and remaining 100% fully functional. Excellent!  Note that I always post the record(s) in a new plain white inner sleeve(s) in order to protect the original(s).

In summary a highly collectible copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1964 UK original MONO 1st pressing Beatles classic in truly excellent condition - a worthy addition to any serious Beatles vinyl collection and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard crucifix style mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
