PARLOPHONE PMC 1230 Mono 1964 Made in Gt.Britain.

This is a 1st Press copy of the classic 1964 Beatles album in original Mono.

Matrix No's are XEX 481 - 3N and XEX 482 - 3N. 

Yellow Parlophone logo with Silver Text on Black label. "The Parlophone Co.Ltd." in the radial text and "Sold in the UK subject to Resale Price Conditions, see Price Lists" across the label at the centre. The album title only appears on side 1 and is absent altogether from side 2. "Recording First Published 1964" just above label side number. "Northern Songs Music Ltd." and "Made in Gt.Britain" at bottom of the label. KT Tax code in centre area. Front laminated, flip-back sleeve Printed and Made by Ernest J. Day & Co.Ltd., London. Mid sized MONO on front cover.

Side 1. A Hard Day's Night, I Should Have Known Better, If I Fell, I'm Happy Just To Dance With You, And I Love Her, Tell Me Why, Can't Buy Me Love. 

Side 2. Any Time At All, I'll Cry Instead, Things We Said Today, When I Get Home, You Can't Do That, I'll Be Back.

Record condition: This really is a superb example. Probably, the best copy of "A Hard Day's Night" that I have ever come across. The vinyl still gleams like new. It's only when viewing intensely under a bright light that I can make out a couple of tiny and very faint surface marks. This record has obviously been looked after extremely well and played with great care. I have played both sides just to check the quality and it is fabulous. Plays without any noise or distortion. No stops, scratches or faults. It is absolutely stunning and I grade it as Excellent +.      

Label condition:  The labels are both in excellent condition with no writing or damage. Faint evidence of play around the spindle hole on both sides. 

Outer Sleeve/Cover:  Original front laminated flip-back sleeve printed and made by Ernest J.Day Ltd., in fabulous condition as well. There are three or four tiny ripples along the bottom edge and an odd one or two towards the spine edge, but they are totally minor and do not detract from the overall condition of the cover. The laminate is all complete and in superb condition. The plain white rear side of this album is notorious for getting dirty, yellowing and attracting finger marks. The condition is fabulous, still very white with no yellowing and the flip-back joins are all amazingly clean and undamaged. The only fault I can mention is a tiny rub below the text and just above the picture of Ringo. I grade the sleeve/cover as Excellent.

Spine condition: The spine is in absolutely excellent condition. Lovely and straight and all the printing is completely undamaged and clearly read. Almost as new. 

    Inner Sleeve: Poly-lined die-cut inner sleeve in excellent, original condition.

Summary:    A classic early Beatles album in absolutely fabulous, original condition.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extras such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
