BEATLES – A Hard Days Night stereo UK “transitional” 2nd pressing *superb*

Up for auction is a superb 1965 stereo UK second pressing of A Hard Days Night.  This is a much harder to find stereo pressing, especially in this condition. 

This copy is a unique and mostly unknown pressing.  This is an extremely rare transitional pressing (or mistake?) between the 1st and 2nd pressings, where the “First Published” text was discontinued and yet the “Parlophone Company” text was left on.  On this label there is no “First Published” text, there is a “P” on the label and “Sold in the UK” text, a “KT” tax code, and the “Parlophone Company” edge text.  This is a very unusual combination.  Do your own research, you will not find it listed, and the UK dealer and Beatles expert who sourced it for me had never seen or heard of it. 

Cat. No. PCS 3058 on the Parlophone yellow & black labels.  Matrix : YEX 126-1 & YEX 127-1.  Stamper codes: 3/OG & 1/AR.  

The cover is in excellent (+) condition.  There is no edge wear, no corner wear, no spine wear.  The cover retains its strong glossy lamination with no glazing, only the faintest of ring impression, and only a very few small light creases near the spine area.  There is only very light and minor yellowing and a small amount of extremely faint and minor grubbiness on the back cover.  This is a gorgeous cover. 

The original Emitex inner sleeve is in near perfect condition, easily excellent (+).

The Yellow & Black Parlophone Labels are in mint (-) condition, with a perfect spindle hole and barely discernible small faint spindle marks. 

The vinyl is easily in excellent (+) condition and very close to mint (-). There is only a very few of the faintest hairlines and light paper scuffing visible under strong and direct sunlight.

The album plays superbly, rated at mint (-).  The run in to the first chord of “A Hard Days Night” on side 1 is near silent.  How often do you hear that wonderful chord with a near silent run in?  There is only light and faint crackling evident on the record, and near silent to silent in between songs. There are no nasty pops and no skips.  This is a stunning sounding copy, a treasure.

This LP was sourced in the UK by a reputable and well-established UK dealer when I acquired my UK collection a number of years ago. It has been played only once since I purchased it to verify condition and just recently once again to prepare this listing.  I am now selling off my prized collection of UK albums.  Check my other current listings, and I will be listing more, so keep an eye out.

The LPs will be shipped using specialty LP packaging materials from Cameron Packaging.  LPs will be packaged using either single or double-boxes, cardboard spacers, and bubble wrapping.  The vinyl will be in a non-original protective inner sleeve and the original inner sleeve will be securely packed.  The vinyl will not be shipped inside the cover.
