Increasingly rare and sought after very nice condition 1969 UK 1st press 12" LP, Beatles gem on the UK APPLE label, STEREO, PCS 7088

Matrix Numbers : Side 1  YEX 749 - 2 with stampers "9" and "MAL" at 2 o'clock and 8 o'clock respectively (machine stamped)

                             Side 2  YEX 750 - 1 with stampers "5" and "AMT" at 3.30 o'clock and 9 o'clock respectively (machine stamped)

An overall impressive condition copy of this 1969 UK 1st press Beatles classic: nice jet black sheen and earliest -2/-1 matrix very good plus condition (VG+) vinyl -  there are some wispy hairlines and faint scuff marks - nothing feelable, each appearing to be superficial and surface only, and mostly only visible with close scrutiny under a bright light; excellent plus (EX+) condition 1st press dark green Apple labels - pristine apart from some extremely faint spindle trails on each, and no mention of "HER MAJESTY" either on the side 2 label or the track listing on the outer sleeve - another key identifier of a very first pressing; original both sides laminated outer sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, nice corners with minimal rubbing, no cardboard creasing, a few minor laminate creases, great colours still, and a near perfect ultra thin spine with all spine text perfectly intact, but there is a 4cm SEAM SPLIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOTTOM EDGE and SOME ABRASIONS ON THE FRONT COVER (see photos), the reverse side is near perfect but with the front side blemishes in mind I can only grade the outer sleeve condition as very good plus (VG+) at best; truly excellent (EX) stereo audio quality - no skips, repeats, jumps, sticks, or obvious clicks & background crackle is at an absolute minimum - just a hint of some very minor background crackle during a couple of the intermissions and quieter moments - very trivial and not impinging upon this copy making for a terrific listen throughout. Comes with excellent (EX) condition plain white inner sleeve with "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" texts.

An overall very good plus condition copy of this rare and increasingly sought after UK 1st press "misaligned apple" Beatles classic, the undoubted highlight being the truly excellent stereo sound quality though the condition of the reverse side of the outer cover with the misaligned apple in all it's glory remains very impressive also, and a real "must" for any serious vinyl collection.

Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself  to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good  The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good  The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair  The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor  The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

Bad  The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
