Detail : Part of the March 1976 release, "The Singles Collection".
On February 6th 1976 the Beatles nine year recording contract with EMI expired. This left EMI with the rights to re-release anything from their back catalogue, which they did, with gusto. Starting with EVERY single ... plus.
This single was part of that E.M.I. campaign to reissue all the Beatles official singles. All 23 (the original 22 plus this one) were issued in a similar green picture sleeve with different pictures on the reverse. ALL 23 again made the Top 100 (at one point ALL simultaneously) with 6 of them reaching the top 50 and therefore being mentioned again in The Guinness Book of Hit Singles.

The first "new" Beatles single since the break-up, "Yesterday" had been released in the U.S. way back in '65.
As you can see above, the small "rights of the manufacturer" writing around the rim is now no longer preceded by "The Gramophone Co.", but now shows "EMI Records Ltd", and under the title there

All Records will be sent in cardboard sleeves & bubble wrapped with the original sleeves packed in the box.
