BEATLES, ALPHA OMEGA - VOLUMES 1 and 2, VERY RARE,1972 SPECIAL TV OFFER, 8 LP'S

In late 1972, TV Products, a company based in Cleveland, Ohio, released two box sets entitled "Alpha Omega Volumes I & II."  What was so unique about these albums was for the first time an extensive collection of Beatles songs was offered to the public.  The "Alpha Omega Volumes I & II" were primarily advertised on TV and radio stations in the Midwest.  They were only available by mail order.

Each volume consists of four albums.  The pirated songs were taken from American LP's.  Songs not yet in true stereo were set to Duophonic, a monaural recording reprocessed into a kind of fake stereo.  Some solo post-Beatles songs are also included.  Surprisingly, the recording quality was very good when compared to other unofficial releases. 

At the time, Capitol Records and Apple Records did not to pursue any legal action.  Instead they countered with the release of two  compilation double albums, "The Beatles 1962-1966" and "The Beatles 1967-1970."   These were later followed by E.M.I. and Capitol Records box sets.  Eventually, (then) Beatles' manager Allen Klein, along with Capitol and Apple Records filed (and won) a lawsuit against the manufacturers and distributors of the bootleg package and against American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. who advertised it.

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a professional grader.  Expect the overall condition to be commensurate with age. 

VINYL: VG+      Typical surface noise, some pops, light scratches, light scuff marks on all albums.  All albums retain a shiny mirror appearance. I  randomly selected tracks to test play.   None skipped.   Having last played the entire set some 40+ years ago, if my memory serves me now, I can't recall any skips.

LABEL: VG+        Clean, light wear, no writing, NOTE: Some albums have a stamped name and address.

SLEEVE: VG       All front and back covers have normal surface wear, scotch-taped split/torn edges and corners.  Pictures show the worst condition corners.  On the Volume II cover there is a push through indentation (located on George's face) but the paper is intact and pressed back into place.
