Description
Up for auction is a very rare mispressing of The Beatles Abbey Road, with the “White Band” cover. This is an excellent condition, original stereo UK 1st pressing, from 1969, with the dark green Apple label and a 1st pressing “Patents” inner sleeve. There is NO “Her Majesty” credit. The Cat. No. is PCS 7088. Matrix numbers: YEX 749-2 & YEX 750-1. Stamper codes: 5/OGG & 5/ATM.
A very few original 1969 Abbey Road covers were badly pressed at the time of release and a white border appears along the top of the cover, both on the front and back. This became known as the “White Band” cover, and is very rarely found as only the very earliest pressings have this mispressed cover.
The labels are in excellent (+) condition, with perfect spindle holes, and no markings or flaws other than only the faintest spindle marks seen under bright light.
The vinyl is also in excellent (+) condition, with no scratches or marks, and no hairlines, and with only a very few light paper scuffs. seen under bright light.
This copy plays very well, rated at excellent (-), with only very light crackling and a very few light pops, and no skips, no nasty crackling or nasty pops. This is an excellent sounding copy.
The rare White-Band cover is in excellent (-) condition, with a brilliant glossy lamination, some light creases and light ring impression. There is no edge wear, no spine wear, and only extremely minor corner wear. The “patents” inner sleeve is in excellent condition.
This LP was sourced in the UK by a reputable and well-established UK dealer about 5 years ago when I acquired my UK Beatles collection. It has not been played even once since I purchased it, other than my initial play to verify condition upon purchase, and just recently once again to have one more listen to this incredible sounding UK music. There is nothing that sounds like an excellent condition UK 1st press Beatles album… certainly no CD sounds like this. I am now selling off my prized collection of UK Beatles albums. Check my other current listings, including some rarities, and I will be listing more, so keep an eye out.
I will ship to most locations worldwide; for other than the USA, Canada and UK please contact me first before bidding. The LP will be shipped with professional quality packaging. Please contact me with any questions. Shipping and insurance at actual cost only, I make no money on shipping. Paypal preferred, please contact me before bidding for any other payment.
