The Beatles “Introducing the Beatles.”

The Beatles “Introducing the Beatles.” VJ LP 1062 (mono)(oval logo). 1963. (VJ 1062 (1) MC3)

1. It has the Vee Jay Logo (Oval Shape) with red ring around the logo.

2. The label has the words: " Long Playing" and "Microgroove" on the label.

3. The Record Label has the colorband (with All the Correct colors) and is glossy.

4. The words: "The Beatles" are above the spin hole.

5. The cover Front and Back is Glossy.

6. The Vinyl Trail off is 7/8 to 1'' wide.

7. The Vinyl Trail off has the following marking engraved : "AudioMatrix" and "ARP"

8. George Shadow is clearly seen on the front cover.

9. The Printing On The Label has Bright, Sharp Silver Print.

10. The Colorband has smooth, gradual changes in color.

This is a 100% authentic copy of this record. It is Version 1, meaning it includes “Love Me Do” & “P.S. I Love You,” which were deleted from subsequent pressings. These are extremely tough to come by in any condition. 

Authenticity

Both record & jacket pass all tests for legitimacy. Below I have summarized the various issues involved in authenticating this variation. You can visit http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/beatles/intro/intro.html#plant for full details, but here are the main tests:

1) George’s shadow clearly visible on right hand side of cover; 2) both front & back cover retain semi-gloss; 3) all printing clear & sharp; 4) colorband label is bright & semi-glossy, w/ gradual color separation & all colors present; 5) “AudioMatrix” stamp in dead wax; 6) width of dead wax on both sides is between 5/8” & 1”.

Again, this copy meets all of the above criteria. It is fully legit.

This is a very GREAT copy. The cover grades a  VG++.  Front Cover retains excellent gloss & color, with  minor wear which you can see in the photo. 

The rear cover is white & clean, with very little wear.   The top seam has pulled apart a bit, as seen in photo.   The bottom seam is fully intact. The spine looks really nice—you can clearly read the title & label info.

Record: The disc is even better. I’m grading it   VG++/Excellent. It retains nearly full gloss & has only one scratch on 1 song, with a couple superficial stylus marks & some paper scuffs.  You really don’t see these in better shape.

Labels: These are EX+ condition. Light spindle wear, appropriate to the very clean condition of the disc. All gloss & color retained. No staining or stickers. You will be very impressed.

A conservative estimate for a copy like this is $1000. My reserve is substantially lower.

THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE USED BY US. . THESE ARE GRADED JACKET=(AS APPROPRIATE) / DISC="SEALED." FOR INSTANCE A VG+ JACKET AND SEALED DISC WOULD BE: VG++/SEALED. OTHERWISE, A SEALED ITEM HAS ONLY ONE GRADE. "MINT" IS NOT USED AS A GRADE BECAUSE, WITHOUT A MICROSCOPE AND 40 MINUTES OF INSPECTION PER RECORD, PERFECTION CANNOT BE VERIFIED TO EVERYONE'S SATISFACTION. NEAR MINT RANGES FROM A RECORD APPEARING UNUSED, TO AN ITEM THAT MAY HAVE BEEN USED, BUT IS WITHOUT A NOTABLE COSMETIC DEFECT AS EVIDENCE OF THAT USE.
Excellent (Ex)
THIS GRADE REFERS TO AN ATTRACTIVE, FRESH-IN-APPEARANCE ITEM THAT, UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, HAS BEEN DISQUALIFIED FROM THE NM CATEGORY DUE TO (USUALLY) ONE OR TWO FLAWS THAT COULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED.
Very Good Plus (Vg+)
THIS IS THE BROADEST GRADE SERVING AS A CATCHALL FOR ANY DECENT, PRESENTABLE, AVERAGE, USABLE (NOT MARRED OR DEFECTIVE) ITEM. PEOPLE ORDERING VG+ ITEMS USUALLY ARE PREPARED TO ACCEPT AN IMPERFECT ITEM REPRESENTING THE ARTIFACT THAT IT IS, AND ARE GOING TO ENJOY IT WITHOUT BEING EXCESSIVELY PREOCCUPIED WITH COSMETIC DETAILS. VG+ IS A FINE COPY THAT IS INDISPUTABLY "USED", BEING YOUR BASIC "DECENT USED RECORD" FOR UTILITARIAN PURPOSES.

THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF "ROUGH" FOR COLLECTOR'S PURPOSES. A VG RECORD IS USUALLY ONE THAT A COLLECTOR WILL BUY TO FILL A "HOLE" IN HIS/HER LIBRARY UNTIL A BETTER COPY COMES ALONG. WE USUALLY DON'T ADVERTISE ITEMS WITH EITHER VG COVERS OR DISCS UNLESS THEY ARE DEEMED SCARCE ENOUGH TO ATTRACT A COLLECTOR FOR THIS PURPOSE.
