Description
Original 1964 version of "The American Tour With Ed Rudy #2" LP. Spizer RUDY2.MR1 (MC2 - 2nd mono cover with Ed Rudy facing sideways on the rear)
Ed Rudy was the only American reporter who traveled with the Beatles for the duration of their first American visit (NY, Washington, back to NY, and then Miami) in Feb. 1964. He interviewed them on multiple occasions and some of these interviews are included on this LP.
Originally, Ed Rudy intended to release this record for radio station play but later decided to also sell it to the public. It was released 9 June 1964.. just 11 days before Capitol Record's "Something New" LP and 2 weeks before the "A Hard Day's Night" UA soundtrack were released.
I use the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent (and, due to this, are graded slightly lower) than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Record - VG
A strong VG (Very Good) [and almost Very Good Plus (VG+)] other than due to a few approx. 1.75" somewhat shallow scratches. Several other rather minor scuffs and scratches exist as well but none affect playback. The runout has the following:
AudioMatrix stamp "Radio Pulsebeat News Documentary #2" "4-4-64" and "Side 1" and "Side 2"
Thick and heavy high quality vinyl. This LP was counterfeited but this one is the real deal.. the fakes have thin flimsy vinyl but this one is thick and rigid.
Spindle hole is intact and very minor spindle marks on both labels. The labels are indeed yellow.. not sure why they look almost light green/yellow in the label 'close up' photos. They are clearly yellow in the other photos.
Cover - VG+
The cover is in very nice shape. Has approx. 2" separations at the top of the spine and another at the top seam (near the record opening). Bottom seam is fully intact. Very minor 'rub' wear from storage and no writing, mold, water stains, tears, etc. The cardboard cover is still quite rigid. Slight corner bump at the top seam/spine.
LP will be shipped promptly in a rigid cardboard mailer for protection; I ship the vinyl outside of the cover in order to protect the cover during shipment. Payment is due within 3 days of the auction's end. Great piece of rock and roll history! Please see my other Beatles items for sale. I specialize in Beatles vinyl.
I have a 100% Ebay customer satisfaction rating!
