MINT BEATLES 1964 FLEXI PLUS RARE LETTER & ENVELOPE
A Surprise Gift from the Beatles, Beach Boys & Kingston Trio!
Right after the Beatles’ appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in February of 1964, Capitol Records found they had a hot product on their hands. Their publicity machine roared into action. Using the rising tide of the Beatles, they would lift all their other acts too – especially teen acts like the Beach Boys and the Kingston Trio.
Their marketing department – the Capitol Record Club, devised this: run ads in teen magazines and offer up a free record for an inquiry. Then send the teenage THIS TRI-FOLD FLEXI with the invitation to join the Capitol Record Club: Buy One Album – and get SIX LPs FREE.
This is what you got in the mail. A 7” x 21” fold out cardboard record, with full details and a card to cut out and return to get your records. Also – a record that included song bits from the Beatles, Kingston Trio and the Beach Boys.
This is a very rare item, and seasoned collectors might only have owned it once or twice in like-new condition. But his one is extra special. THIS LOT ALSO INCLUDES THE NEVER SEEN PINK LETTER INSERT (4 PAGES) PLUS THE ORIGINAL MAILING ENVELOPE.I dare you to find another! I have yet to see a price guide even recognize the existence of these other parts. I would bet that less than 1% of the flexis out there have this letter as well.
CONDITION: FLEXI is like new – superb with NO BENDS or dings.
LETTER – has minor damage around corner as show – all 4 pages in a 7” x 14” fold out.
ENVELOPE – damage around edges as shown.
