RARE STEREO 

2ND STATE BUTCHER COVER!

Here is a super addition to your Beatles collection! The winner of this auction gets the following:

A June, 1966 U.S. original STEREO, SECOND STATE BUTCHER COVER of The Beatles' Yesterday and Today LP (ST 2553) - with the vinyl record and original Capitol inner sleeve!

As you are no doubt aware, the original First State "Butcher Cover" was deemed too controversial and distasteful that it was replaced by the "Trunk Cover". Some of the "Butchers" were not destroyed, and the "Trunk" was simply pasted over top of them, making these "Second State" Butcher Covers. Many collectors seek out the Second States to have them peeled. Others wish to keep them in their "state" as is.

Because most record buyers still had mono record players in 1966, far fewer original pressing STEREO Capitol LPs were pressed! Because of this, along with the fact that this would mean that far fewer "Second State" Stereo covers are still in existence,make this item very sought after by serious collectors!

• Cover: has, unfortunately, seen better days. It is apparent that the original owner was unaware of what he/she had in their possession! The front cover has some overall aging markings and scuffs, along with some ink marks, particularly in the eyeballs of the boys! The bottom seam has split, but the other three sides are holding fine. Ringo's black shirt is clearly seen underneath the Trunk cover to the right of the trunk. The back cover has some writing along with much aging/staining. RIAA #5. 
• It does NOT appear that anyone has tried to tear the Trunk cover away from the Butcher, very unusual for these covers, though the corners show some bumping. This cover will probably be a good candidate for a peel, but I'll let you be the judge. When all is taken into consideration, it is still a STEREO 2nd State cover, still very rare in any condition.
• Record: under a bright light, it is apparent that the record has been well used with numerous unfeelable scratches and scuffs. No subsidiary print on the labels.
• Inner sleeve - original orange sleeve is well used.
