This auction is for the infamous "butcher cover" of The Beatles' "Yesterday And Today" LP.  This particular copy is the Capitol Records stereo LP ST 2553.

 

When I traveled by train between my parents' home on Long Island and my college dorm in Philadelphia during my freshman year in college (late 1968 and early 1969), I usually visited two record stores in Greenwich Village ("Village Oldies" and "House of Oldies," I think).  On the wall above and behind the counter of one of the stores was a copy of the first state of the butcher cover with a price tag of several hundred dollars (I don't recall the exact figure).  So, imagine my surprise when I found this record in the used LP record bin!  The tame cover was laminated over the notorious cover, but I could tell that the butcher cover was underneath.  So, hoping that the person behind the counter would not recognize what I had actually found, I tried to remain calm as I purchased the record.  So far, so good.  Then I made the bonehead move.  I tried to remove the laminated top cover but didn't do a great job.  Oh well, we all make mistakes.

 

Most of the white that you see on the cover in the image is the remainder of the incompletely-removed laminated top cover.  There are a few white areas that represent inadvertent removal of the underlying butcher cover:  just after the second "y" in "Yesterday";  just above John's head;  and on Paul's left thigh.  So if you know how to do it, you can make this cover look better by removing more of the overlying white paper of the top cover.  An additional defect is some waviness or rippling of the bottom quarter of the cover (probably because I used a wet sponge to try to remove the top cover, but I don't recall;  you will know what I mean about spotty memory if you, too, were in college in the Sixties).

 

Please note that this auction is for the album cover only.  I don't have a specific recollection, but I suspect that I tossed the inner sleeve and vinyl disc because I was only interested in the cover at the time.  I already had an excellent copy of the LP (which is also now long gone).
