Mega-Rare Original Taiwanese Pressing on Colored Orange & Brown Vinyl!

Word has it that this is an unlicensed release produced by the Taiwanese for sale to American GI's stationed there in the 1960s. A cursory look will reveal some humorous mistranslations, such as "stereo" being rendered as "sterfo" on the cover (but, surprisingly, not the labels), and "baby" as "body" on two different songs!

Yes, it is actually in TRUE STEREO!

CONDITION OF THE ALBUM:

I grade the disc as Fair (F).

Visually the disc actually grades G+, as it only has a couple of light scratches.

However, a test-play on my Pioneer PL-990 revealed eight skips - one each on "Baby's In Black", "I'll Follow The Sun", and "Eight Days A Week", two on "Every Little Thing", and three on "What You're Doing". I can't guarantee the exact same playback on all other systems, being that playback often varies significantly from turntable to turntable. I will however caution that the turntable I used is notoriously sensitive, and there is actually a good chance that the disc will play better on your equipment. Again, not a guarantee, just a hunch.

It is also important to note that the disc is slightly (but very gradually and evenly) warped, causing Side 1 to be slightly concave (i.e. the outer rim is higher than the center label, and Side 2 to be slightly convex (i.e. the center label is higher than the outer rim). Being that this warp is so subtle, I would imagine it is correctable.

Might I add that, while this is a rather "hissy" copy, it actually sounds MUCH better than I expected it to, given its, shall we say, 'questionable' origins. Channel separation, and the definition and presence of the music was easily commensurate with that of any American pressing I've ever heard, while distortion and crackle were really no worse than that found on the average 'well-loved' original American.

It is definitely not tape dub from another copy, but rather the stampers were made directly from a legitimate pressing. Legitimate UK pressings actually feature those "YEX-142/3" matrices, and thus it is reasonable to conclude that a legitimate UK pressing was used to create the stampers for this pressing (i.e. it was used in place of an acetate/dubplate).

I grade the jacket as Fair (F).

Please note that this is not a conventional cardboard jacket, but rather a folded piece of 12x24-inch paper with front and back cover art work, which merely wraps around the disc. It has only one manufactured "seam", which is the fold in the paper along the bottom.

As you can see this "jacket" has not held up too well, with many creases, tears, and missing bits of paper along the left side of the front half, and along the right side of the back half. Furthermore, the fold along the bottom is mostly split, and and only about two inches of it remains intact.

The jacket will be placed in a new plastic outer sleeve.

Obviously not in the most collectible condition, but it is still one of the few copies you'll ever see. My suggestion: separate the front and back halves of the jacket, and then display them side-by-side alongside the visually-striking colored disc in a frame. After all, I doubt you are buying this pressing for audiophile-grade sound, so it's not like you need to have the disc handy to play!

However, the return process must be initiated within three calendar days of the delivery of your item (all shipments are tracked, and so I can see the exact minute that your item was delivered). You must pay the return shipping. Once I receive your returned package and verify that it is A) the same item which I shipped to you and B) in the same condition as I shipped it out, then I will refund your initial purchase price plus what you initially paid to have it shipped. The reason that I have not selected one of eBay's cookie-cutter return policies is that the smallest window of time over which I can choose to accept returns is a whopping 14 days, and there is no way in hell it should take you two weeks to figure out whether or not the item you purchased matches the description I provided. I am more than willing to assume responsibility in the event that I have failed to correctly describe an item or package it safely, but I also want to avoid holding a payment in PayPal for weeks after the initial sale, only to have a buyer finally get around to opening the package and filing a complaint on the 14th day of this unnecessarily long grace period. I make sure to get your package out as quickly as possible, and it's only fair that you confirm everything is okay on your end in a timely manner as well. I don't want to have to wait around for two weeks after I see a package has been delivered yet no feedback has been left, wondering if I'm going to be hit with a complaint. Frankly it is in both of our best interests if you check your packages as soon as possible - after all, you'll be refunded much quicker! If you find these terms unreasonable, then don't buy!

All records are shipped in genuine cardboard record mailers. The disc will be placed in a new liner and packaged outside the jacket (but within the plastic outer sleeve) so as to prevent splits. Original liners (if included) will be kept inside the jackets, as will any inserts. The album will be surrounded by three sheets of 12” by 12” bubble wrap (two sheets over the disc). Shipping info is always typed up and printed out – we don’t take chances with shoddy, hand-written addresses! The box will be sealed with and the address sheet will be affixed by lots of Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Tape.

Payment must be made within 48 hours of purchase/auction’s end.
