Each Christmas from 1963 to1969,the Beatles recorded a short seasonal message for their fans, composed of songs, sketches, carols, jokes and thanks to the loyal 'Beatle People'. Each recording was issued on a 7" flexi disc and mailed free to the British members of the Fan Club.
After the Beatles split up,the fan club issued a final offering on one LP collecting together all the previous years messages on this one LP. Aparently the original master tapes had been lost and so this compilation was created using actual flexi discs from fan club secretary Freda Kelly, and issued in very small quantity.
Two notable names associated with the LP are Tiny Tim who sings ‘Nowhere Man’ on the 1968 track, Maurice Cole, who was of course Kenny Everett who put some tapes together. And Yoko Ono is heard on the 1969 track.
This is an album of ‘festive fun’ and listening to it 49 years later takes you back to the start of when four Liverpool lads were about to change the world. It’s a nostalgic, happy and sad experience, reminiscent of the 1960s when we were all younger…..so much younger than today……God bless you John and George.
NOTE! Label mispressing…..Record labels are on wrong side of the record. Side One label is on Side Two………..Side Two label is on Side One.
The record is very good with a few light marks, none serious. A few pops are audible which were probably on the original flexidiscs. The sleeve is excellent with a few creases but NO rips,splits or writing.
