Description

BEATLES George Harrison APPLE 1974 TEST PRESSING LP Living in the Material World

Cover---Issued in a plain white non die-cut cardboard cover.  A copy of the album’s standard insert is inside, which contains all the song lyrics.  Really nice condition insert.

Vinyl---Absolutely genuine original 1974 Apple Records Test Pressing LP.  Both sides are a beautiful VG++.  In the main, both sides look unplayed, with the exceptions of one or two stray lines that are only visible under a bare bulb.

Dead Wax---On side 1, the words, “Hare KRSNA” are etched, with umlauts beneath KRSNA, indicating a Los Angeles pressing.  Winchester pressings used all caps, whereas this copy has upper and lowercase etchings.  Side 2 has “HARE RAMA” in all caps.  Both sides have the Los Angeles asterisk machine-stamped.  These are very difficult for me to capture on my camera, but I did give it my best.  See photos.

Labels---perfect.  No writing, no dirt.

Playback---Because the purpose of test pressings is to test the quality of the batch of vinyl, I always play-test them.  After all, there are many test pressings which did not pass quality control.  This copy plays effortlessly all the way through, with the expected fidelity of the mother plant’s plates.  There are one or two places where there is some crackling and popping.  (Might clear up with a good cleaning.)  Static tics are present in all the silent bands, starting from the lead-in.  But they disappear when the music starts.  This might also be symptomatic of vinyl which simply needs to be remoisturized by a good cleaning.

If you plan to bid, please read this first…

For the second time in two weeks, I’ve had a very high bid cancelled on my auctions. A third buyer who won her auction told me she was going to withhold payment for two days while she decided whether she wanted the LP.  All of these LP’s were in the triple digits. Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay?

Thanks!

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
