Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

Mega Rare Dark Apple Export Press with 'PAPER BACK' Error!
On offer here is a copy of the Beatles UK export copy of the album, 'Hey Jude'. This is the 2nd pressing on the Dark Apple logo. This is the exceptionally rare and highly collectible error pressing that incorrectly has the space in the word 'PAPERBACK'.
Hey Jude was originally issued in America in 1970. EMI in the UK also ran off a small number of copies specifically for export, giving the release it's own unique EMI catalogue number, but with a C prefix, indicating a Capitol release.
Now, these dark Apple export copies are, in themselves, very difficult to find (the vast majority of copies are on the later, light Apple label). However, two errors crept onto the label during production which were very swiftly spotted and corrected. Firstly, the song 'PAPERBACK WRITER' gained an erroneous space and became 'PAPER BACK WRITER' and the song 'REVOLUTION' gained an S, becoming 'REVOLUTIONS'. It appears that the Revolutions error was corrected first, and a few more copies went through the production line before the Paper Back error was also spotted and corrected.
This copy also has the rare sleeve variation where the spine print is also printed along the top as well as down the spine. I also noticed that the disc does NOT have any mother or stamper codes on side 2, and only a mother number of 2 on side 1. Not seen that before!

Title Hey Jude Year of Release 1970 Catalogue Number CPCS 106 Label Dark Apple Tax Code on Disc - Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number YEEX 150-1 Side 2 Matrix Number YEEX 151-1 Side 1 Stampers 2 / - Side 2 Stampers - / - Sleeve Condition The sleeve is in EX condition. The sleeve is holding up perfectly with minimal wear and tear. The front is wonderfully clean with just a little light rubbing on the laminate and a few tiny little creases around the edges. Top and bottom seams are holding perfect with no wear or tears. Spine has a couple of little creases running through it but is holding fine with no wear or splits and is fully legible. The back is showing a little disc impression and light rubbing, but is overall very nice and clean with a rich colour. Inner Sleeve Condition - Inserts Condition - Disc Condition(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in EX+ condition. The disc has a lovely, sharp, crisp shine to it and just has some light, very faint scuffing here and there. Beautiful condition! Label Condition The labels are in EX- condition. The side 1 label is clean with some light spindlewear and a touch of rubbing around the centrehole. The side 2 label looks a litle patchy when I look at it under my desk lamp but overall looks okay.
All records have been visually graded under a strong, 125W natural light desk lamp.

My Vinyl Grading:
MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.price rating
