This is the second version where Love Me Do & P.S. I LoveYou were replaced with
Please Please Me & Ask Me Why. The sticker releases of this album were few & far between often Vee-Jay only used the promotional STICKERS on early release mono covers as in this case.

The COVER/JACKET:
Shows VERY LITTLE WEAR!!!

This is the slightly modified second variant of the Version Two Mono sleeve with a comma in Please, Please Me on the rear slick but with the small 2 after the word RECORDS at the bottom. 
The condition is extremely wonderful  The front & rear show minimal discoloration & there is no writing anywhere. The front does have what looks like a light impression about 2 1/4" long and very narrow (as thick as a ball point pen) Not bad and don't really notice it unless looking for it. The spine is still clearly readable and does have one letter that has been rubbed and slightly faded it is the letter L in "Beatles" See photos. 3 corners have small bumps and the top left has a larger bump again see photos not bad at all. All seams are nice and tight!!!  Does have some light overall seam wear. There are a couple light crease on the front left again not bad at all Little to no front or back rub wear!!!! Beautiful tight clean condition!!!!!!!!!!! Also the back bottom left corner has a tiny chip piece missing from the back slick about 1/8" hardly noticeable. The sticker as almost all do has light browning that can be seen. and the front has an original yellow store price tag that reads "$3.98" pretty cool!!!!
The vinyl would be graded as EX+ to strong NM-/EX+ to strong NM- absolutely nothing stunning original only played a few times with care!!! No obvious scratches or surface scuffs!!!!!!!!! Very much like new!!!! Nothing that I can feel and nothing anywhere that affects playback which is very clean and sharp.  No real background noise between tracks nothing that even comes close to over powering the beautiful deep groove sound these originals produce!!!! (NOTE: Apologize for the poor quality of the vinyl pictures. LP is actually near mint and the reflections and haze are due to phone camera and bad lighting when taking the pictures. You will be happy with the condition!!!)

This is the original Version Two release.
The labels are deep groove and black with colorband. The labels have corrected the Coffin-King credit to Chains and no comma on the label on "Please Please Me".

All information in the run off areas of the vinyl is scratched nothing stamped.

The matrixes read as follows:

Side One:  63-3402-1   2-6-64
Side Two:  63-3403-1   1A

Both sides of the record have a couple small machine stamped areas indicating [the pressing plant] but i cant make out what they read? There are also the initials URJ on both sides.

The condition of the vinyl remains excellent not far from mint. Both side very little play (no play wear in the grooves just beautiful!!! 
No significant background noise no irritating clicks no burring of the tracks. I have no problem in saying that this album plays well above its weight as an excellent to near mint minus condition copy sonically it remains amazing EX+++/EX+++ to NM- visually and sonically!
LABELS:
No tears, No writing NO spindle impressions seen only under bright light at an angle!!!!  Very tiny white showing around the spindle hole not bad at all PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS!!

Background

This was the first Beatles album released in America with the version two of the album very quickly following version one into the shops. The reason for the two versions of the album was that Beechwood Music took out an injunction against Vee-Jay because they didn't have the rights to issue the tracks that had previously appeared on the Love Me Do single. Vee-Jay consequently had to re-tool the album to remove the offending two tracks which were replaced by Please Please Me and Ask Me Why.
As it turned out this was probably a better track selection for the album anyway.
This change was executed in January 1964 & the Version Two album was back in the shops by the 10th of February. In the end this album eventually sold 1.3 million of the Mono & nearly 42000 of the Stereo LP versions. Sales of the Version One amounted to 79000 Mono & 1000 Stereo. It can be seen at a glance that the ratio of Stereo to Mono was still very small even in the United States.
