Description
BEATLES LP REVOLVER 1966 GERMAN ODEON SMO 74 161
On offer is THE BEATLES LP entitled REVOLVER released in STEREO in 1966 in GERMANY on the white/gold ODEON label ODEON SMO 74 161. This is the first press German Stereo identified by the Side 2 label error ‘I WANT TO LOVE YOU’ – instead of – I want to tell you (see scan of the label).
These white/gold label stereos are amongst the most beautiful of all Beatles foreign pressings and the sound quality is superb. The example offered here for sale from my personal collection of Beatles LPs (acquired over many years of collecting) is in lovely condition as follows-
- The front non- laminated picture sleeve cover is in nice EX-/VG+ condition with some creasing to the corners. I have kept this LP in a plastic cover for over 30 years which has helped to protect it well over the years.
- The back (non-laminated cover) is also in nice EX- condition.
- The disc is in nice EX/EX- condition – with a nice sheen to it and beautifully clean, clear vinyl. The labels are also very clear and clean – it is a lovely disc.
- I have just test played the LP and it plays EX throughout with a nice full stereo sound audible in my hi-fi.
- The disc is in a plain white inner.
- The matrix numbers are – XEX 605-1 / XEX 606 -1
Overall this is a nice example of this rare Beatles German Odeon first press stereo Revolver LP – which is hard-to-find in the nice condition that this LP is in.
The tracks are - Taxman / Eleanor Rigby / I'm only sleeping / Love you to / Here there and everywhere / Yellow submarine / She said she said / Good day sunshine / And your bird can sing / For no one / Dr Robert / I want to tell you (labelled in error as - I want to love you)/ Got to get you into my life / Tomorrow never knows.
