Description
Original Tollie Records (Vee Jay Records' budget label) "Love Me Do" & "P.S. I Love You" picture sleeve and record. Released in spring 1964. This is a very rare sleeve. When found, this sleeve is often very worn and a low collector's grade. A very nice addition to any Beatles collection.
The sleeve and record are each graded in VG to VG+ condition using the grading standards from the "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records, 6th edition [Perry Cox]". These grading standards tend to my a bit more stringent compared to Goldmine. I accurately grade all of my items using a bright light.
The sleeve has some light edge wear and very very light ring wear. Please see my photos. Corners are intact and no tears along the top as is very common with this sleeve. Sleeve is Spizer version TOL 9008.PS1. Overall a very nice rare Beatles picture sleeve.
The record is the yellow TOLLIE label with the curved "e" in the logo. "AudioMatrix" stamp and "URJ" etching in the runout prove this is an authentic release. A few scattered small shallow scratches but nothing deep or very noticeable. Plays very nicely and, of course, no skips. Record is Spizer version TOL 9008.04. The record was pressed by Southern Plastics (Nashville, TN), one of the record manufacturers that Vee-Jay contracted to manufacture its records (Vee Jay did not manufacture its own records). No writing or stickers on the labels.
