If you wish to find out why Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were one of the best rhythm sections in the universe, seek no further: this will reveal it all: the insanely rare mono mix of the fab four's final US mono recording, and a very different mix to boot. A Must for any serious Beatles collector. Plus, remember: US "stereo" version(s) of this album include fake (electronic) stereo versions of MANY some on this album - this is the only way to hear these gorgeous songs the way Beatles themselves intended them to be heard.
For its extraordinary contribution to the contemporary music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, songwriters and general public, or for some other inherent quality, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, show business professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, the legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye, Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice , Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton, Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). Some Reasons Why You Should Own Original American Mono Beatles Albums:
I. These are genuine historical artifacts. Rock & Roll did not produce many works deserving to be called history; albums by Beatles are a noble exception to this rule.
II. These pressings are coveted by EVERYONE and, despite the fact that Beatles sold almost a billion records, precious few original mono albums in good shape remain on the market.
III. Mono pressings are, almost by definition, the very first pressings. They were in print for only short period of time, ranging from only a few weeks (Magical Mystery Tour) to three years (Meet the Beatles).
IV. First, mono pressings sound MUCH better and are much more vivid than the stereo versions.
V. Mono versions contain different versions or mixes of many tracks; in some cases mono versions contain the only "proper" versions of the songs, which are available only in FAKE stereo on stereo albums.
VI. Beatles mono albums are all analog pressings; whereas everything else you can currently find on the market is a …~NMLD digital mastering.
VII. American versions of SOME Beatles Capitol albums have never been - and, apparently, will never again be - available on Compact Disc, courtesy of EMI/Capitol records (why, sure - if you have to pay Mariah Carey $50 million NOT to record anything, not even the lucrative Beatles catalog can save you)
VIII.The original Beatles mono albums are a terrific investment value, not likely to go the Enron way.

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)
(b) The album comes with the original booklet still intact.
(c) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 30:1.
(e) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· COVER
THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- A faint, moldy stain (more pronounced on the inside gatefold) affects the area about 4 square inches in size on front “leg” of the cover; the stain is visible ONLY on front panel, and inside gatefold but does NOT appear to be visible on the booklet and the back panel
- Cover shows some yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging. Yellowing is also noted on the INSIDE gatefold AND the booklet.
- Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3 (front side) and 4 (back side)
- Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine
- Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on the top and bottom seams, but - surprisingly – no split seams (yet)
- Cover has one corner slightly worn / frayed / bent (nothing significant)
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:
- No cut-out (drill) holes.
- No cut-out corners
- No saw-marks or indents
- No writing
- No stamps
- No peel-off marks
- No stickers or labels
- No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.
- No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
- No bar codes
- No RIAA stamps or stickers.
