... audiophile German Hörzu LP with all tracks in 'True Stereo'!!
rare German first press vinyl LP so highly appreciated by audiophiles and collectors alike. So what's so special about this unassumingly generic-looking version? Well, this happens to be the only release with all tracks in 'true stereo' as opposed to duophonic on the rest of the pack... Not even the highly acclaimed 'Original Master Sound / MFSL version can say they contain all tracks in true stereo - read this interesting thread on this topic: http://stevehoffman.tv/forums/archive/index.php/t-9415.html ...Again: this German HORZU version is the only LP that has all tracks in full true stereo, i.e. for the first time also Penny Lane and Baby You're a rich Man ...Find more info elsewhere online, as details get pretty technical concerning the mastering of Beatles recordings.
The run-out matrices are stamped with "SHZE 327 A 1" and "SHZE 327 B 3", with "0449-A-1" and "0449-B-3" underneath, respectively. The catalog number is "1C 072-04 449", indicating it is the 1977 pressing of the Hörzu version. This is a beautiful sample with cover nearmint and the vinyl looks unplayed in pristine NEARMINT/MINT condition with clean labels and no spindlemarks - perfect! Best copy I have seen in many years...
Having play-graded this LP on high-end equipment using a Koetsu system, I can only attest to the astonishing clarity of this version. It does indeed live up to the hype it has garnered over the years within the audiophile community. There is a sublime richness found, particularly in the cellos on Walrus, Strawberry Fields, and All You Need Is... it practically leaps out of the speakers almost 3-dimensionally. "Walrus" contains the 6-beat intro truncated to 4 on other editions. The vinyl is dead-silent with no pops or scuffy surface sound in-between tracks.
