A HARD DAY'S NIGHT- New Zealand original 1964 STEREO BLACK LABEL pressing.
The first thing I will say is...
THIS LP IS RARE!!!
This LP was released in mid 1964 when HMV NZ was changing from the black Parlophone labels to the newer light blue labels.This LP was the first in New Zealand to be released in both mono and stereo and FOR A SHORT TIME the stereo pressing was the old style black Parlophone label with silver print and the words STEREO above the spindle hole (see picture above).Shortly afterwards, HMV NZ changed all Parlophone labels to a lighter blue label and the black label was gone forever! [the blue label is much easier to find than the black]
The vinyl is still in amazing condition although there are scuffs and some light scratches but it plays very well.The labels are in amazing condition with virtually no spindle hole marks at all.This pressing is the older style thick vinyl.
The inner sleeve is correct for the period and features the HMV record catalogue on one side and a selection of Decca recordings on the other.
The cover shows no rips or tears and is fully laminated on the front.There is a small water stain in the top right corner.The spine has a couple of cracks.The back cover is clean and free of marks apart from a small name and telephone number neatly written in ballpoint pen in the top right corner. The back flaps are clean and undamaged.The gold 'stereo' sticker is in great condition on the top flap.
The first generation UK stampers were used for this pressing so the sound is identical to the original UK pressing.
