OB LA DI, OB LA DA/JULIA TEST PRESSING 45 WITH FLASH STILL ATTACHED!
Jukebox issue of this 45 on clear vinyl still has the flash attached. (For those who would like to know, when a 45 is pressed, there’s a glob of melted vinyl that is placed between two record labels. When the top and bottom pressing plates smash the glob from either side, the hot vinyl is squeezed out and the excess is trimmed off the finished record. That excess vinyl is referred to as “flash.”)
Sleeve: No sleeve was provided from the pressing plant, as this copy was slated to be destroyed. However, this 45 will be safely packed for shipping to you.
Vinyl: It is clear why this copy did not pass inspection from quality control. You can see that a very small part of the record’s lip or edge was pulled off in the trimming process. This does not affect the value of this copy for two reasons. First of all, copies of 45’s with flash attached cannot be played anyway. But secondly and most importantly, these copies are supposed to be destroyed and discarded. This lucky fella escaped. Playing surfaces look unplayed. Because they are. This copy didn’t even make it far enough in the manufacturing process to punch out the center hole, meaning that you inherently get the full record labels as well. Full jukebox labels are nearly unseen outside of the pressing plant.
